Corinne & Doug’s wedding at Ratsbury Barn in Tenterden wasn’t exactly what they envisaged in terms of the weather but this is England and it can rain anytime as we all know! However, despite the grey clouds and drizzle, on what I’m sure they hoped would be a hot and sunny August day, everyone looked to have a great time and it didn’t stop any of the fun planned, just delayed the bouncy castle for a while.
This wedding was all about people relaxing and no formalities, no posed photos and lots of what was going on, exactly what I love! So other than a couple of very informal group photos and a few of Corinne and Doug together it was a case of photographing proceedings as they went on.
With a number of children attending there were plenty of activities and entertainment available to keep them busy as wells the adults, and everyone was soon getting in the spirit of the afternoon. This included kicking and bouncing on giant inflatable beach balls and creating giant bubbles as well as drinking a few cans of strongbow and John Smiths (adults only of course!)
I do tend to photograph a lot of weddings and wedding receptions in barns around Kent and Ratsbury Barn is a venue I have photographed at before. If you’re looking for a blank canvas to put your own mark on with an expanse of outdoor space including an orchard this is a great location for a Kent wedding. Luckily Corinne had come prepared to go outside with her pair of red wellies, so we were able to venture round the gardens and pond to take some photos of her and Doug together.
On this occasion I was only covering their wedding for 3 hours and when I heard back from Corinne the only regret she had about the photos was that she didn’t book me for longer, as like I said, once the rain stopped the bouncy castle arrived and they would have loved to have some photos of people on that.
