Bronwyn and Warrick were married at The Old Kent Barn on what thankfully turned out to be one of the sunnier days we’ve had in May. Deciding to go ahead with an outdoor ceremony, they and their bridal party braved the chilly wind that was felt inside the gazebo, while their guests could enjoy the warmth of the sunshine outside.
It all seemed very calm during the getting ready stages but once Bronwyn stepped into her dress the emotion of the day started to tell, a few tears from her mum as she saw how beautiful her daughter looked and a few from Bronwyn as her father entered the room and saw her for the first time.
Warrick meanwhile was spending time with his groomsmen and taking a few moments to go over his speech before the ceremony. The guests were enjoying a drink and a chat and it seemed nearly all were South African, and although I’m sure a few now reside over here, for those that don’t it’s quite a distance to travel for a wedding, testament to how they felt towards Bronwyn and Warrick.
A wedding at The Old Kent Barn can take place either inside or out and is obviously weather dependent. On this occasion the only issue was a light wind during the ceremony which if it hadn’t been for the swift action of one of the bridesmaids could have seen Bronwyns wonderful veil take off!
Once the ceremony had taken place and people had a drink in their hands, Bronwyn and Warrick cut the cake. This took place outside so everyone could enjoy a cupcake with their drink before the wedding breakfast rather than bother with canapés. Warrick was every bit the gentleman when feeding his wife a cupcake and didn’t smudge it over her face as can be the case sometimes!
With a buffet style wedding breakfast and speeches in-between courses everyone was happily entertained and well fed ready for the evenings party to get under way.
Bronwyn and her father had the first dance and then Warrick stepped in to take over, they looked so happy together, a perfect match and from what was said in the speeches it was a marriage people had hoped would happen for a while.
