I’m a photographer who aims for a relaxed and natural pre wedding photoshoot, there’s no time pressure and we get to take a walk somewhere, chat on the way, and if the suns shining then it’s even better. Julia and Ryan are getting married at Boys Hall this April and came over a couple of weeks ago to have their photos taken on the farm and what a beautiful day it was. Although it’s a close call with the summer, Spring is probably my favourite time of year, with the buds just coming through and that little bit of warmth in the sun, together with that freshness and feeling of optimism it gives you, not forgetting those very welcome longer daylight hours!
Despite proclaiming they didn’t take a great photo, they were really relaxed and there were some lovely photos of them together, and it’s this ability to take a little direction and then just enjoy the experience that’s the key to getting the ‘unposed’ and natural type of photo that most people I photograph want, not just on the pre wedding shoot but more importantly on their wedding day. I try to show them how I’ll be with them on the wedding day and what sort of photos of the two of them can be achieved very easily by looking for some good light and just letting them enjoy a moment together. I know I shall enjoy photographing their wedding, great people, great venue, let just keep our fingers crossed for some great weather.
