I arrived in the morning at The Old Kent Barn and it was a hive of activity with last minute touches going on in the barn downstairs and a room full of bridesmaids, hairdressers and make up artists upstairs, there was barely enough room for me and then the three videographers arrived, cosy! I’ve got to say though that Ignite Wedding Films were great to work with, really professional.
While the girls were getting hair and make up done, Nick and his two brothers were being flown around the Kent countryside by helicopter which then landed in the field next to the venue, greeted on the ground by the guests and three bottles of cold beer, they couldn’t have looked happier.
If Emma was nervous it didn’t show, she was beaming, as was Nick and the rest of the guests when they saw her, she looked really lovely and she has a such a sweet personality, it’s easy to see why Nick thinks the world of her.
Despite a little drizzle during the ceremony the day turned out beautifully and guests were able to enjoy drinks outside while the photos took place. There was also marryoke being filmed which went down really well with everyone, in fact I think there were some guests who were born to do this, not even a little bit self conscious, but helped perhaps by a little liquid refreshment.
This was a wedding with a good deal of entertainment laid on, the magician was brilliant, not just clever tricks but funny, which always gets great reactions for me to photograph, and the grooms brothers were an act in themselves, dressed in batman outfits they delivered a brilliant speech which was hilarious and well received by everyone in the room.
The evening saw the arrival of an impressionist doing Keith Lemon among others and also the casino tables and photo booth so if you didn’t fancy the dance floor there was something else to entertain.
The Old Kent barn provides me as a wedding photographer plenty of opportunities for couple shots and some photos of Nick and Emma together outside under the twinkly lights of the gazebo rounded off the evening perfectly.
