Catherine & Jonny’s wedding at St Andrews Church, Tilmanstone took place back in June on a beautifully hot and sunny day. With Catherine and her bridesmaids getting ready at Withersden Hall, the ceremony at the church and then the reception taking place at Kingston Village Hall there was a bit of travelling about to do. Catherine had Jonny’s treasured little red sports car to transport her in which made for some great exiting the car shots!
Like most services these days it often starts with the Vicar or celebrant asking guests to turn off their mobile phones and refrain from taking photos during the ceremony and people are usually grateful for the reminder. It was quite a surprise then to hear a phone ringing during the Vicars address but quite amusing as it happened to be the Grooms!
As with quite a number of Kent weddings I photograph in a church, the reception venue was a blank canvas that was decorated by the couple and their families. This can be quite a time consuming job and it took Catherine’s dad a good number of hours ( I think he told me 8) to hang all the fairy lights across the beamed ceiling! All their efforts paid off as they transformed not only the inside but also the outside, Catherine’s mum must have been collecting jam jars for months to put all the flowers in ( I believe she had done about 160 odd!)
I asked Catherine why the table plan was in the style of a map of Paris and she told me that Jonny had laid a trail of clues around Paris taking her from one point to another with the last being his proposal, now that is romantic!
