If I haven’t been to a particular venue before I try if possible to visit before the wedding day, which is what I did for Andrea and Tim’s Cobham Hall wedding in Kent. Used as a school during term time, it is a beautiful building set in some equally beautiful grounds with great expanses of lawn and huge mature trees. It has been used for various tv shows and advertising and whilst I was visiting a film crew were getting a set ready for what I now think is the kindle advert that’s showing while Downton’s on.
Andrea and Tim’s wedding ceremony was to take place in Lady Darnley’s garden and on the day the weather was perfect. Unfortunately Andrea’s dad had his leg in plaster from the knee down but it didn’t stop him walking her across the lawn and up the aisle as every proud father wants to be able to do.
Tim and Andrea took their vows in the romantic Ionic Temple in the garden before their friends and family and although Tim forgot his left from right during the exchange of rings, Andrea managed to get it on the correct finger eventually, much to everyones amusement.
With guests enjoying drinks and canapés after the ceremony, we took the requested group shots before having a little time for some couple photos around the grounds. The time always goes quickly between the ceremony and the wedding breakfast and allowing adequate time for group shots, candid shots and couple shots is key to the smooth running of the day and the part I play in it. Once everyone had taken their seats and welcomed the newly weds into the stunning Guilt Hall where their wedding breakfast was being held it was time for me to leave, hopefully I’ll be back again very soon as it really is a wonderful venue.
